My Favorite Things: September

The perfect mozzarella, tomato, pesto on sourdough sandwich.

Little girls obsessed with babydolls.

Sweet babies who prefer sleeping together.

Patches on my boy's knees.

The pretty cardbox I made for Kristen's upcoming wedding,

and one of my thoughtful bridesmaid gifts.

Tomato soup & grilled cheese on rye for a blustery day's lunch.

Kiddos who appear to be raised by wolves. Clearly.

Such a perfect, beautiful night.

I love you this much

Fun fact: my mom and Snowmeow share the same birthday.
Must be why they're so similar- both a bit fiesty, both full of awesome.

The kids made my mom a birthday card, by tracing their hands, then gluing the two hand pieces together with a length of construction paper as tall as they each are.  I love you this much.  It's something my mom has said to my kids since they were born. It's their thing.

I think she loved the cards most, out of all her gifts <3

Happy first birthday, furry girl.
We couldn't ask for a better kitty.

I Demand A Recount

We had a silly face drawing contest last night.
There was Em's (I helped her a bit), Clay's, Narls', and then mine.

The little person in the upper left corner is Emerson.  Narls even gave her piggies.

See my face's ears? Now look at Narls' face's ears.  He clearly copied me.

And yet he still won.  That's some shit.

Yes, I voted for myself.  I almost had Em's vote, too, until she went all rogue on me and voted for her brother.

Wine, and Drag Queens, and Sleepovers, Oh My!

This past weekend was Jamie's bachelorette party.
It was planned by all of her bridesmaids and we kept the plans secret from her.
Because we're awesome like that ;)

The only part Jamie knew beforehand was that she had to wear an old bridesmaid dress.
Because that's always fun and not the least bit crazy, right? haha
Luckily she's up for anything and trusts us 100% so she threw on her dress with complete gusto.

The first half of the evening consisted of wine tasting at this absolutely perfect winery. We had cheese and chocolate and wine and we talked and laughed and drank wine.

The second half was even better, with drag queen bingo.
This bitch was HILARIOUS.

We had like three or four of our girls win bingos (not me though, which I'm still salty about) and seriously, we had the best time.

Then it was back to Kristy's house for a sleepover involving games, and presents and sex toys, and, of course, more cocktails.

Our bride was thoroughly surprised. And she had the best time. We all did. <3

Two Amazing Years

Today is our anniversary.

Two years ago we sat in the title company's office, stomachs full of butterflies and hands tight from clenching pens and signing documents.

For two years we've mowed our lawn and shoveled snow off of our driveway and hosted our babies' birthday parties and marked their height on their bedroom doorframes and made memories.

Amazing memories. In our home.

What an amazing two years it's been <3

Friday Night Lights

Last night was beautiful.  One of those perfect fall evenings.

So we packed up the kiddos and headed to watch my baby brother play his 8th grade football game.

Look at this boy! So handsome.

First Day of School!

Today is my babies' first day of school.

Em is going into early preschool and Narls is going into pre-kintergarden.
They're excited.  I'm excited, too.
It's just all so very bittersweet.

He reached for her hand. Like a good big brother.
She wouldn't wear her Tinkerbelle backpack.
And there's Bear; he wouldn't miss this for the world.

Pre-K. Wow.

Em, being my more dramatic child, wouldn't pose in front of her classroom.
Getting her to smile for this picture was hard enough.
That's ok though, this picture is exactly her.

Clay's Birthday Weekend

We boarded a jet plane Friday afternoon and flew to Baltimore to spend the weekend - Clay's birthday weekend! - in Baltimore with one of our best friends, Andy.  My mother in law kept the kids so we could have an adult weekend of late nights and even later mornings to welcome Clay into his 35th year.

And we had an amazing time.  Andy lives in this awesome part of the city, where literally everyone is friends with everyone and it's so relaxed and ... fun.

We missed our babies of course, we always do when we leave, and I know Clay was glad to be home on his actual birthday (Monday) to celebrate with them as well.

Here's to you, my amazing husband.
Happy birthday.

Kirby Engagement Pictures

This weekend I had the privilege of taking Kristen and Chris' engagement pictures.  I'm not a photographer, but I do enjoy photography, and I love when I get the opportunity to shoot something other than my kiddos.

This is actually the couple's second set of engagement pictures, as we did a session last year shortly after they got engaged.

Only a month until their wedding!
