October's Favorite Things

1. the annual walk-a-thon at my kiddo's elementary school
2. the dog who thinks she's a real kid

3. watching this boy play soccer
4. and watching this girl read her books

5. my sonshine
6. the kitty who can sleep anywhere in the whole house chooses the dog's crate

7. these two, every day after school, waiting for the bus to drop off the kids
8. the fifth graders leave little notes of inspiration throughout the kindergartener's classrooms; I found this one particularly inspiring

9. spending time with this guy
10. these two where they really belong

11. a double rainbow across the street

Happy Halloween

By pumpkins fat and witches lean
by coal black cats with eyes of green
by all the magic ever seen
the ghosts will rise on Halloween.

Pumpkin Carving is the Best.

All was well & wonderful until the Charlie Brown show ended and I had the wonderful idea of watching Coraline because someone on my facebook posted about how great it was and Narls is like two years older than our first attempt at watching it and it should be ok now.

Nope.

We made it about 25 minutes farther than we did two years ago and the night ended in tears from Narls (I told you I didn't want to watch this movie ever again in my life!) and tears from Emerson (I want to finish it! This is the bestest movie eva!) and a fight between Clay and myself because what did I expect would happen anyway and I shoulda just listened to him in the first place.

But hey, at least our pumpkins look good.

Em's First Field Trip

The kindergarteners took their first field trip, to an orchard/pumpkin patch.

I've been here before, a few years back, with Narls when he was in kindergarten. I was just as excited and nervous and ready to celebrate fall with my girl and her friends today as I was with Narls then.

We had a little prep sesh prior to the trip where the kiddos made their shirts and crafted some pretty spectacular pumpkins.

The field trip itself went perfectly. We took a hayride through the farm to a pumpkin patch where we picked out our own pumpkins. The kids got to tour the farm and pet a horse and learn how cider is made. We ended the trip with a picnic style lunch on hay bales, complete with donuts and cider.

I cannot say enough how thankful I am to have a job that affords me the flexibility to be with my children for their school events. I love having a career, but my kids are my whole entire world.

And now the loot! Pumpkins, donuts, cider, and caramel apples.
Seriously, this is why fall is everyone's favorite season.

Enchanted Princess Ball

Got my girl tickets for this year's Enchanted Princess Ball.

It was as wonderful as last year's event.

Elsa & Anna made their ball debut, much to every little girl's screaming delight.

If only there was wine for the moms.
Maybe next year.
(I hope that's what she wished for.)

Howl-O-Ween Dog Walk

Our love for Halloween knows no bounds.

And we are absolutely not above dressing up our dog.
For the record, she loves it.

A stunning day, trick-or-treating for doggy treats, walking with family and friends- what's not to love?
