Individual Apple Pies

It was my turn to bring dessert to Girls' Dinner, so I tried out a Taste of Home recipe that I'm planning on making for Thanksgiving, and you guys, it was SO GOOD.

I made 32 individual apple pies, using a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, 4 apples, some melted butter, and a couple refrigerated pie crusts.

And it was so easy!
I tweaked the recipe a bit because I was actually able to double the recipe using the amount of pie crust & sugar originally suggested. Yay for cutting out unneeded sugar, right?

Basically, just unroll a pie crust, cover in melted butter, and sprinkle with a cinnamon sugar mixture.

The recipe originally called for 8 strips per pie crust, but that's A LOT of dough. Too much, in my opinion.  I halved the crust, then cut 8 strips per half, allowing one pie crust to make two apples worth of wedges.

Wrap each apple wedge in one strip (with the cinnamon sugar on the inside). Just a note on the apples, I used a couple Granny Smiths and a couple Honeycrisps, both of which I recommend. One apple should yeild you 8 wedges. And I peeled mine. I didn't want to leave the peel on and risk making the individual pies "tough".

Finally sprinkle with the wrapped wedges with the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture,
and bake for about 15 minutes at 425.

We served ours with vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup, and there were no leftovers.
Seriously, the adults loved this dessert, the kiddos loved this dessert.

Here is a copy of the tweaked recipe I used; feel free to save and print it. :)

Enjoy!

  2. Okay, I made these tonight, thinking they may be boring since I forgot to buy icecream or whip cream, or anything fancy like that, but NOPE. So good! Even Sarah, my super picky eater, gobbled some up after the apple cooled. <3
