Tulle Wreath for a Tutu Birthday Party

My baby girl's birthday is fast approaching. Less than two weeks away, in fact. So I spent my Saturday afternoon at a few different craft stores buying the various odds and ends I needed to make her day special, including yards and yards of tulle.  We're throwing her a tutu-themed party (because she's turning two which is the CUTEST THEME EVER), so many of the party's decor is going to made out of tulle.

Sunday I made the first decoration - a tulle wreath for our front door.  The entire project took me an hour and cost less than $10.

You'll need a styrofoam wreath (mine was 10-in), which was $4.99 at Joann's and ended up being only $2.50 with my half off coupon; a couple rolls of tulle (I used two rolls and each had 25 yards), which I got for $2.50 each from Hobby Lobby; and a pair of scissors.  You could add some ribbon if you'd like, to jazz it up, and my ribbon was $1 at Michael's.

Cut your tulle into 16-in strips.

Try to ignore the cuteadorableness of your kitty as she attempts to distract you from crafting by burrowing into your tulle.

Double knot each strip of tulle around the wreath.

Pattern your strips anyway you'd like. I knotted 4 strips then changed color.

Keep your knots aligned.  I kept mine facing out as I was working, but you're going to want to move them more toward the center when you're finished.

Fluff and trim.

Add a ribbon and you're done.
Easy, cheap and best of all? ADORABLE!
