JT and Jay Z Legends of Summer Concert

Since we say Beyonce a couple of weeks ago, it is only fitting that we'd see her husband when he came to town.

He was putting on a little concert with his bff, Justin Timberlake.

It was an intimate show, only 42,000 of our closest friends.

We had floor seats.

And it was amazing.

That Wonderful Amazing Weekend My Best Friend Was Here. Oh, and Beyonce.

My sister from another mister, my spirit animal, my ride or die confidant, the Alex to my Piper, the only woman on this planet who truly gets me 100%, my Mary Anne came to stay with me for the weekend.

And it was amazing.

We overindulged, we made complete asses of ourselves, we couldn't finish games or drinks, or hell, even sentences, because we were laughing so hard, and the best part? Not a single fuck was given. We were too happy to be together. It's been entirely too long since an ABC+MA reunion happened.

There were massages.

And a glam dress up sesh with our own personal fauxtog.

Oh, and floor tickets to Beyonce. No big deal.

In all honesty, as amazing as all that was, the absolute best part was having my girl in my house, spending time with her. Catching up on our lives, talking boys and boobs and babies. Whether we were making terrible decisions at 1am while laying in the luxurious grass, or covered in blankets with the air on blast while eating thin crackers and fancy cheese and watching Orange is the New Black, or dancing our asses off at one of the best concerts we've ever been to, we were laughing and happy, and it was perfect.

The Adult Summer Break

Guess what?

My sweet darling children whom I love so much and are the center of my world are going to spend the upcoming week up north with their grandma and cousins for vacation bible school.

You know what that means, right?

They're going to make precious memories and learn about the good word. Yes, that's right.

But more importantly...

Mama and Daddy get a week
to.
them.
selves.

In honor of this momentous occasion, I've made a special playlist.

Mix Tape: Baby Love

I heard a song recently that instantly reminded me of the that sweet time in my life when I was a new momma. It was a song that still, to this day, reminds me of my son.

Coldplay-Yellow by Coldplay on Grooveshark

I started thinking about the other songs I've quietly dedicated to my children. I'm sharing that playlist with you today; hopefully you'll love them as much as I do. Also, I'd love to hear the titles of songs that remind you of the little darlings in your life.

Play Me A Love Song

Happy Valentine's Day, Friends.

I have (what I hope is) an amazing day planned. An off-the-wall surprise for my husband, a classroom Valentine party for my son, then maybe some time to myself in my spin class? We shall see. But first, coffee.  And a bit of blogging.

We finished Em's Valentine's last night, so I thought I'd share them with you today. She made the girls in her preschool class - seriously, there are only girls in this class, ten of them, all 3 going on 13 - Valentine Mix Tapes (and for the record, I'll never stop calling them mix tapes).

I created the CD cover with photoshop, leaving room for Em to sign her name. She picked a couple of the tracks (Call Me Maybe and Never Ever Getting Back Together - we're calling that one the anti-Valentine), but Clay and I picked the rest.  Em didn't get full creative control because I wanted a couple new songs for her to enjoy as well. And because I didn't want to hear her two picks over. And over. And over. Well not anymore than I already have to. Totes included a Britney track by the way, because, obviously.

Homegirl can make fierce E's and M's.

Then we printed the covers out, inserted them into the CD cases, and burnt the songs onto the discs. Total dance party commencing in three, two, one...

Now that coffee is done, it's time to break out the wine, right? Day drinking is totally acceptable on holidays. And work days. And weekends. ♥
